Moitará Sofá | +55Design
From the Tupi language, “Moitará” refers to the traditional practice of exchange among different Indigenous peoples, defined by bonds of reciprocity and cooperation. This concept of interchange and fluidity runs through the work of architect Arthur Casas, who often blurs the boundaries between indoor and outdoor spaces. His architecture seamlessly connects environments, and the Moitará furniture collection takes this dialogue even further. The sofas, armchairs, poufs and coffee tables from the line break away from the typical design of outdoor furniture — usually linked to metals, stretched fabrics or synthetic materials. Instead, the collection features sturdy structures with plush upholstery and wood, allowing pieces to transition effortlessly from the veranda to the living room. Functionality is enhanced by wheels fitted to the sofas, making them simple to move and adapt to any setting.
In this way, the collection translates the principles of exchange and integration into versatile, refined and inviting pieces, reimagining the very idea of outdoor furniture. After all, a sofa designed for open-air use can deliver the same comfort and beauty as one made for inside the home.
