This Baleia Beach condo includes four residences situated relatively close to one another. The challenge here was to place them on the lot in such a way as to ensure privacy without cutting corners on the ocean view. With this in mind, we staggered the four houses along a skewed axis as they draw close to the beach, an approach that effectively shields all of the condo’s spaces, outdoor areas included.
Barely above the sands, the living and dining rooms—with double-height ceilings—are separated by a courtyard garden. The courtyard, plus the large glass doors that open completely on the sides, allows the landscape to seep into all the rooms and make its way into even the most tucked-away corners of the house, underscoring the complementarity between house and environment. The terrace flows into the interior of the house, stretching out toward the beach, while an infinity pool at its end marks the skyline.
On the upper floor, the bedrooms are arranged on opposite sides and connected by a corridor with wooden blinds that provide greater privacy. The master suite, suspended above the terrace and illuminated by a solarium, draws in the view through a corner window. On the third floor, the home theater opens out onto an outdoor deck with an even more generous view of the beach, while the living room is topped by a green roof.
Cross-ventilation facilitated by the outline of the house and its landscaping, creating interior views that work to shield each residence from spaces of contact with neighbors and heighten interaction with the native flora, is also a fundamental element in the design, which sought to make the most of the location and adapt in order to maximize both openness and privacy.
